Yes I did, and I may be dense as a lead balloon, but - Edit 1

From what I understand, Sanderson got better as he kept writing. Did you notice any better writing between books 1, 2, and 3? I know The Way of Kings in The Stormlight Archive has superb world building. Best I have seen in a very long time.

there were some twists I didn't see coming throughout the three. And yes, he spent a little more time describing the place by book 3 - I think he realised he kind of needed to.

Part of the problem is that it's so hard to see the damned maps on a Kindle, even zoomed in.

Don't get me wrong, I think they were worth reading, and I enjoyed them. I can't quite put my finger on why I didn't think they were great. I guess I could never quite place myself there.

I'm not sure about this further book. It seems way different and set well ahead of the trilogy, so if I don't get into it, I may try some of his other work.

Eventually, if I can get myself to appreciate him enough, I can finally finish WoT
