of falling under the belief that you're a bad friend. Friends understand and remember that although circumstances can come around, the friendship still remains. Much like if you forgot/were unable to be there for another event...you'd get back together, hug, and enjoy the friendship.

The only difference here is that your friend has passed on. They would understand and still give you that hug.

Now you have to mourn. Since you were not at the (communal) mourning time, you would need to have a personal mourning time. Remember the good times. Value the memories. And honor your friend.
