View original postThis feels REALLY weird, by the way. Let’s see if I remember how it works.

View original post1. When did you first come to wotmania, now RAFO?

Way back in 2001. Ancient history

View original post2. Of all the things which have changed in your life since then, which would surprise that past self the most?

What would surprise my past self the most is that I was fortunate enough to be granted a few spectacular opportunities that enabled me to live my dream of traveling the world for a while, but I squandered these opportunities via wonton irresponsibility and stupidity. Everything changed, but nothing much changed....

View original post3. Which former member(s) would you most like to see posting again?

Not that interested

View original post4. Which former member(s) are you most curious about? (In terms of where they ended up, etc.)

Occasionally wonder about Silje.

View original post5. Tell me about something new you tried lately (author, food, product, experience, anything) that impressed you with its awesomeness.

Ordinary Maccas burgers are pretty poor fare, but the more expensive gourmet creations 'Mighty Angus' burgers, are actually damn fine burgers.

View original post6. Do you keep a regular journal/diary? Have you ever done so?

Well yes, I've kept something like that since 1996. Originally it was a dairy, but my thoughts and feelings were embarrassingly bad to read, so I eventually decided to edit that stuff out and the journal evolved into what I now call an 'Event Log' instead, where I just record a quick summary of what I find to be the most significant events to me (without attaching any emotion or interpretation to them)- something I'd be OK to make public.

I'm consulting the Event Logs now actually to help answer this survey!

View original post7. Describe your dream home library.

Physically, or in terms of book content? In terms of book content, I'd have 27 sections of non-fiction covering all the best science topics. Additional dedicated fiction sections focusing on sci-fi, fantasy and general fic. A section for self-help and how-to books, another section for biographical stuff. That's how my Kindle collections are arranged

View original post8. If you could learn any language overnight, which would it be?

Always wanted to learn French, another quite succeeded. Chinese or Japanese would probably be the most useful and interesting.

View original post9. What is your favorite mixed drink?

Lemon, Lime and Bitters.

View original post10. If you could go back in time to yourself at any age and deliver some advice (with assurances that your actions would not trigger any world-ending paradoxes), what would it be?

Focus on your own goals and avoid arguing with other people about their beliefs Trying to persuade other people of stuff is not the most productive use of your time - everyone has to learn the truth in their own way. Go your own way!

Try to understand the structure of knowledge as a whole - see the big picture by learning how all knowledge fits together into coherent categories of thought. Rather than searching for one big answer, look for as many different viewpoints as possible - there are multiple valid models of reality, and they're all needed. All we can know are models of reality...don't become too attached to any one model, try to see things from many angles.
