Making the arguement against banning twitter (Aka devil's advocate). Twitter is a great platform to talk about cute dog pics, sharing funny but short jokes with strangers and so on.

Of course other social media websites like Instagram also do this well, but the style of twitter is different.

The platform is not widespread enough to be used to grade the pulse of the country in the way the media uses it. But they should start with Trump's and then any tweets about him

Agreed on the news front. It is not useful to judge the mood of the country, nor is it a useful "breaking news" tool for it allows the sharing of true news that is informative (it's has been sourced and so on) and stuff that are rumors and innuendo just as fast. Especially if the "breaking news" includes something like violence, terrorism, and so on.
