It does seem logically inconsistent to shun Google while still using Facebook, Amazon etc. I think my irritation with Google stems from how difficult it was to clear cache and browser history as well as to avoid data sharing between Google-owned sites once you had a Google account. Google doesn't have a setting to delete all history and clear cache and cookies whenever you close the browser. Firefox does. As does IE.

As to the linking of accounts, I used to be a beta tester for Google so I had Google+ and accounts on all the sites they own, like Youtube etc. All we so inextricably linked that I had to delete my Gmail account and everything else to finally clear everything.
