And what is Nancy Lanza had decided that it was unnecessary to have a gun because the climate around her was significantly different because legislation implemented a decade ago?

Nancy Lanza enjoyed recreational shooting and hoped it would have the same calming effect on her son as it did on her. Unfortunately that didn't work out. You want legislation that makes the climate unfavorable to those who shoot for a hobby?

What if legislation prevented gun ownership in a house with someone with a diagnosed mental illness? What if legislation allowed for a registry that prevented people from stockpiling ammunition?

What if you already own the gun(s) when your child is diagnosed as mentally ill? Are they confiscated?

Registration for bullets? So whenever you go to a firing range and buy a box of bullets to shoot from your legal firearm, you have to fill out a form?

Stop telling me there's no solution to a problem that only exists in the US.

It's not that there is no solution. One has not yet been proposed by anyone that can achieve consensus.

1) yes
2) More that they would have to find alternative arrangements for the storage of their weapons... Or you can put the child up for adoption, I suppose.
3) I assume that there is a cash transaction involved here, you used to have to sign for using a credit card, I can't imagine showing up with I.D and signing a receipt is too much effort. Or a waiver for any ammunition that is used on a firing range and not to be taken off-site.
4) So we should do nothing until a solution can be found that a consensus can be reached on? I think the only person who would favour that is Rand Paul.
