I was merely using toddlers as the extreme example. As someone who owns a toddler, it's mind-boggling.
It might not mean much coming from me, but I think that's wonderfully sensible. You can always introduce them later, if it seems like a good idea. I was raised with guns, but my dad was strict and scary - we never touched them, and the first thing I ever learned was how to check they were definitely unloaded before handling. My mom wouldn't even let us point play guns at each other - "guns aren't for people." Sadly, there are so many stories so different to mine.
