I just talked to my brother, and as he said that it will get better with time, I was reminded of your post from March. I hope you're holding up.

It's been over 7 months since my wife died. I have more days where I am numb now than I did in the beginning. But the days where grief blindsides me are as bad as ever. They just are a little less frequent.
