Because "no man" fits the dramatic tone of the prior clauses, and "no one" does not Cannoli Send a noteboard - 12/10/2017 11:22:40 PM

"No one" is conversational speech. How much of the rest of the spiel sounds like something you'd hear in a conversation?
"Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its five year mission, to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations. To boldly go where..."

If you want to use "no one", it should be consistent with the rest.

"Space is the last place to explore. The starship called the Enterprise is making these voyages. Over five years, it's supposed to explore strange new planets, and look for new kinds of life or civilizations we haven't heard of, and look for them where no one else has gone yet."

I just figured out how to fix Star Trek: The Next Generation (albeit about 30 years too late) - 12/10/2017 03:23:44 AM 820 Views
...why is this preferable to "where no one has gone before?" *NM* - 12/10/2017 07:17:37 AM 305 Views
