There is no ten.
And like 1/2% actually interesting plot.
To use WoT as an example. It kind of felt like coming into the world ruffly book... Oh, lets say eight, and needing everything explained as you go along.
Just felt like it was trying to fit WAY too much into a first book, and thus had a rather hard time making me, you know... Actually care.
Did get a little better towards the end though.
Have read, and liked, some of his other books though. Mistborn is nice, and for whatever reason I REALLY like the idea of the lifeless from Warbreaker... I rarely even bother to remember the magic system which makes them even exist, but the lifeless themselves are rather neat.
BS can do good with his own magic systems, he just didn't know what the hell he was doing with the One Power. And I seem to recall reading in some interview from him that the way he tends to work with magic systems in to ask himself what they can't do, and work from there... Which likely explains why his OP just felt so freaking nurfed. Not helped by the fact that his understanding of what it couldn't do was just blatantly wrong half the time.
