What, a few Palestinians get killed protesting? That happens every time they shut the Temple Mount due to security concerns. They lose support internationally? Nope. Saudis, Jordanians and Egyptians want Israel right now due to their escalating conflict with Iran. People think the US is mean? There's no cost to that; the ones who hate us hate us already and the ones who like us are used to this sort of thing.

Even if it's an empty gesture, there are no costs.
