And even so I'm going to have to go with option 2. No idea about what their play is like or whether they are fun to watch or any of that stuff, but Tom Brady is obnoxious even if his longevity is certainly impressive, and the political factor doesn't help. Plus, of course it's always more fun to cheer for the underdog.

Honestly, I don't care about who athletes support politically. Is he a Republican? Probably so. As a centrist, I don't care.

I would put Germany as the most likely world champion, though perhaps not by much. As we've seen often enough in the past, very strange things can happen in World Cups - though, as has often been pointed out, Germany seems to encounter remarkably few 'strange things' which involve them getting defeated. Personally I will of course be supporting Belgium, but the most likely path for Belgium involves a quarterfinal against either Germany or Brazil. So I don't have too much hope they'd be able to get beyond that. Although that said, if they did manage to beat one of those two and reach the semis, we could finally say they've gotten past their choking issues, and then it's not that crazy anymore to dream about winning it all.

If Belgium made it far in that would be pretty cool. My hopes for that group are Belgium and England make it past the group stage. Panama should be easy to defeat though Tunisia is surprisingly not as weak as expected.
