proof that all the outrage over sexual harassment is nothing more than pandering to a naïve base.
Ted Kennedy did lots of good things, even though at the age of 47 he did a HORRIBLE thing. I can compartmentalize. Note sometimes compartmentalizing is not a bad thing, it is a necessary thing in human psychology. Aka https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Splitting_(psychology)
I wish we lived in a world where I did not have to do as much compartmentalizing, a world where politics is far more dynamic and far more responsive to the people.
Heroization is a complicated subject and what makes a hero is different in different cultures at different times. The Greek Hero cults for example celebrated "cultural / civic" heroes while gladly also pointing out their flaws.
Now let me repeat your words before responding.
proof that all the outrage over sexual harassment is nothing more than pandering to a naïve base.
But to deny other people as being inauthentic for they have heroes and these heroes are complicated people. People who have done horrible things. I find that urge to do so disgusting and otherizing.
It is trying to say only my life experiences matter, only my viewpoint of the way the world works should matter. Doing such a thing is in my mind vile.
Oh yeah let me repeat this again Ted Kennedy was a vile man, but he also did good things. That is the nature of being human.
