At the end of the day it ended up a stupid gesture for the vast majority of people using it because it was vague. What did it mean? Some women did provide specific stories of actual sexual assault. Others felt icky when a creepy guy complimented them on having nice eyes (true story).
Anyway, it's gone the way of all stupid internet memes.
Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.
