Not just his age...the time between then and now. These installations are more than 3 decades old. They have no bearing on the man now. Like I said before...how much have you changed in the last 36 years? And then how much of her (drunken) memory has changed in the last 36 years? The other day I watched a movie I hadn't seen in years which I remembered as being scary and terrifying. It had one decent jump scare and the rest was pedestrian at best.

Human memory shifts with time. We unintentionally build it, reform it, and otherwise characterize it differently through time.
