I read both as well and enjoy them a lot. Have you watched Longmire on Netflix? Is it worth seeing?
I read and loved Pickett, although I'm a couple of books behind. I watched season 1 of Longmire and liked it, and later read one book which I liked less (it was where his daughter was in the hospital in Philadelphia, I think). I was too busy to pick up the show again, but my mother read many of the books and loved the show.
One thing, Lou Diamond Philips plays the Indian buddy (Henry, I think), and it's something like Tom Cruise playing Jack Reacher. In each case, though, I believe the actor's performance compensates for the considerable physical shortcomings.
I haven't seen the actor who plays Walt in much else (he was the doctor who hated Jason Statham in "The Meg" ), but he was excellent. Katee Sackhoff is rather miscast as Vic, but she's pretty good in the role nonetheless.
