If we are going to compare ourselves against another nation, sure, there would be examples where we are more efficient and less bureaucratic. There are also examples where government action was efficient. However, I would site that as an example of being despite government involvement, as opposed to because of government involvement. However that is neither here nor there.

What I wanted to bring up was that, reforming & working on government efficiency is a thing we can all agree on. One of the best ways to do that is to not add any more irons to the fire. Do not give them anything else to do. Instead, have them refine & reform what they have and demonstrate that their new, streamlined processes and procedures are capable of running something as complex as health care.

I can honestly say that I don't trust the government. Not that I think that it is corrupt, per say, but instead that I don't trust them to not screw it up. I live in California, where things are screwed up on a consistent basis. Take for example the new high speed train that cost us a fortune, that is now incomplete and the project has been killed. Anyone with half a brain could have told you that it was not possible to get a high speed rail line from LA to SF, let alone from SD up to Sacramento. It just doesn't work like that. You can't even take a regular train now that can do it. You have to get off and take a bus over the mountains!

The government can do many remarkable things, but it is not suited to do everything. The private sector is well suited for many tasks. The trick is ensuring that the private sector will stay aimed at what's best for all, not just what's best for them/shareholders.
