Looks hopeful. Perhaps it can even save SW... But the sequel trilogy is already doomed. Dunstan Send a noteboard - 15/04/2019 01:51:46 AM

So Disney releases this teaser trailer over 6 months before the movie comes out, just before a competitor's biggest weekend of the year. Coincidence? Probably not.

That said, any thoughts on the trailer? The fanboy blog-o-sphere is blowing up over concern about the title. The Rise of Skywalker? What does that mean? Which Skywalker? Biggest fear - Abrams retcons Rey's backstory to make her someone's secret kid after all. Seemingly that would be enough to trigger a nerd Apocalypse.

What about Luke's voice-over and that line, no one is ever really gone....followed by a very familiar sounding maniacal cackle? Lando is back, Leia is obviously included, Luke with the Force Ghost narration - can anyone make a return?

Mostly I was ecstatic to have something else to think about this weekend other than the fat man's stupid TV series.

A trilogy of movies can't really "recover" from the second one going to great lengths to deconstruct the first one... No matter which way it goes, at least one of the preceding movies was kind of pointless and disconnected from the other two.

... Still, I'm happy it was TLJ that seems to be being thrown into the rubbish bin. TFA wasn't perfect, but it had a lot more heart to it.

I was suggesting the timing might have been to distract from GOT. *NM* - 15/04/2019 03:34:27 PM 117 Views
