Both episodes of this season have been the show coasting on the capital it built up during the seasons where they were actually sticking close to the source material.

It's the same reason Tyrion and Varys aren't doing anything--because the writers can't write well enough to portray the two characters as intelligent as they're supposed to be.


All so true. Martin may be slow AF, and he may have lost his way narratively, but he definitely can write a story and these characters well. I enjoy the show mostly, but have to look past all its many faults to do so. It isn't always easy.
