Among the insinuations of the former's article is an implication that Trump abused his influence to have the police harass Epstein.
"In fact, the relationship with Mr. Trump turned so toxic that Mr. Epstein at one point told friends that he blamed Mr. Trump for his legal problems with the Palm Beach County police." - NY Times
What's interesting is that the Palm Beach police, I believe, were the ones who investigated and charged Epstein in the first place, before the Democrat prosecutor failed to nail him, and that's when Acosta got his turn. And also failed, which might by why he isn't in Trump's Justice department, but rather in a second tier post that should not even be in the cabinet.
Basically, the story here is that once upon a time, a guy who later became a minor member of Trump's cabinet, did not manage to convict a guy whom the state prosecutor, with the primary authority to convict predators in Florida, also failed to convict. Acosta was not the judge and not responsible for Epstein's slap on the wrist, but he was the guy who at least got him slapped.
And yet, the story is being presented as some sort of responsibility of Trump's, as if he was both siccing the police on Epstein AND using his crony Acosta to get let Epstein off easy.
