Don't make me argue with you just like I was arguing with my father. Roland00 Send a noteboard - 26/08/2020 08:02:52 PM

My dad who is also in the city and is handicapp only started being worried in the last 24 hours. He went from nothing anxiety wise to panicking even though all the projections are far better for Houston (not for Louisiana) during that time.

Yes there is Cat 3 storm maybe Cat 4 in the next few hours, but we are now very confident of where it is going to hit and it is far from here, and thus we are still going to be affected by the storm but how big of storm we get will be small.

(Meanwhile me I been on these storms like a hawk since Last Thursday and been asking him daily is there anything he needs. He keeps on saying no, no, no and then panicking kicks in and he wants a 30+ thing list even though 2 dozens of these things will not help and it is just anxiety making me do work or telling him no )

It's still gonna suck for us both.

We are going to get hit by it, but the area of where we are going to get hit will have 40 to 50 mph of wind and 2 to 4 inches of rain. Beaumont will be a 75 mph area zone and Lake Charles is getting screwed. Beaumont (more specifically Sea Rim State Park south of Beaumont near the ocean) is 80 miles away and Lake Charles is 150 miles away.

Currently it is about 175 miles from its likely destination (first landfall of the EYE of the storm) to Louisiana, and 225 miles from where I live, but those two places are 150 miles away and thus the chance of it bullseyeing Houston is astronomically low even if we are going to get a glance.

Edit: For comparison here is a simpler stat. We are 25 miles away from the sea, and 5 miles away from fresh water that eventually becomes salt water due to stuff. We are going to get a storm surge of 2 to 4 feet. Lake Charles on the other hand is going to get 15 to 20 feet storm surge. (We are not the same with the danger, I am terrified not for me but other people.)

Be safe for I am worried about you!

Laura could be a Category 3 when it hits LA / TX and Cat 4 is still possible . - 25/08/2020 06:17:55 PM 101 Views

Could theoretically bullseye Houston. Low probability, but possible. - 26/08/2020 08:55:23 AM 284 Views
