Landlords don't care a whole lot about what people are doing in the properties they are renting from the owners as long as they are paying and their isn't significant damage that would prevent them from turning it around to a new renter when the current renter moves out. Inspections when their is reason for concern is generally enough to satisfy landlords' needs.

If they feel like this will attract more people to their properties then they'll have them installed. If they feel like it won't provide R.O.I. then they'll steer clear of having them installed.

If this is something you truly do not want in your home, do not CHOOSE to live there. Capitalism and markets speak... if enough landlords realize that people are choosing to live elsewhere and its driving the amount they can charge for rent down then they'll pull them out pretty quickly.

If the rent prices start dropping because of it then people will get to actually make the conscious decision if they want to trade privacy concerns for a better deal on rent. Win/Win.

If you decide to sign an agreement that has stipulations about having one in the unit then you have already agreed to have one in your home. There is no "noble duty" about it. If you destroy it out of "noble duty" then you're an ass hole going back on the agreement that you signed and the landlord has every right to evict you from the unit.

Oh Geez. This sums up leftist politics in a nutshell. I am a "victim" (in this case entirely and evidently directly by consequence of choice) and destroying property is a noble duty.

Destruction of Property is Sometimes Your Noble Duty.

Its statements like this that rile the more even keeled among us.
