Mistrust of government on healthcare by people of color, however justified by history, is a political reason too.
Mask opposition, yes, is more likely from whites who claim "libertarian" views. Like the imbeciles partying maskless and unvaccinated in the Lakes of the Ozarks. Most of whom, when interviewed, claimed to be Trumpists.
I was both amused and outraged at a social media post by one such "libertarian" who vowed he would refuse to wear a mask to enter any business that required one unless so ordered by the government. If this idiot was bright enough to appreciate irony it would almost be funny.
The Lake of the Ozarks are just insane, right now. I'm pretty sure they're close to herd immunity just from transmission. Wouldn't be surprised if a new variant pops up there.
