That's all weird to me. I get that no one in authority wants people self-medicating with Ivermectin packaged for livestock, but I investigated Ivermectin around 2013 or so when I learned that it's the active ingredient in Heartguard. I bought a bottle of Ivermectin solution and have been medicating my dogs with it instead. ($100 per dog every 6 months for Heartguard vs $25 for a bottle you can't use up before it expires unless you have maybe a dozen dogs) Basically I buy one bottle every 5 years of heartworm protection for our 2 dogs and my MIL's dog. Sometimes you have to pay for a fecal test at the vet because they don't trust you to do it yourself. Net-net I've saved a ton of money.
