For instance, expanding NATO right up to the border of Russia, when the fall of the Soviet Union should have caused the automatic disbanding of the alliance.

Fwiw I agree entirely, here. Putin hasn't exactly been lying that the growth of NATO seems like a threat to him, and were I in his position, I'd probably feel the same way about it, so I can't really fault him here.
So while I too feel bad about what people in Ukraine are going through, I tend to give such expressions of sentiment a side-eye, because there is a definite campaign to sway the US popular opinion in favor of conflict with Russia over the issue. Not that I am remotely suggesting any such intention in your own statement, beyond the literal meaning of your words, especially in the context of the second sentence.

Thank you, because I DO NOT want any of our troops involved in this war. I don't mind giving intel and supplies to the Ukrainians, but I am entirely opposed to opening a war front with Russia in Eastern Europe.

Sounds like a good plan for species-wide suicide, but not much else.

We might not have been involved in directly starting this one, but to whatever degree we are not involved, our ruling class absolutely wants to change that.

Total agreement here, too, the constant drumbeat of war from our "leaders" right after we got out of fucking Afghanistan is incredible. How they can be so blind and stupid I do not know.

Oh, wait, nevermind, yeah I do, its all the stock they hold in defense contractors.
