Why do I need an all or nothing allegiance to it (this was addressed to Fionwe originally)

You don't, but the fact remains if your opinion of the Constitution is "throw that old piece of junk out", that's inherently anti-American. Our Forefathers fought and died for these rights, and we'll be damned before we just throw them away because they're "old".

Rupture happens all the time in government, we just flatten it and forget it.

Cool. So either revolt, overthrow, and discard the Constitution, use its procedures to affect change lawfully, or deal with it as it is. Those are the actual options you have.

Any of those are reasonable options to choose. The unreasonable one is "fuck everyone over because we feel sad".

Hey we frickin' did Internment of Japanese only 80 years ago! George Takei lived in an unlawful and unconstitutional hell hole due to a tragedy except we do not call it a tragedy for it was done on purpose.

I'd call it a tragedy. Being done for a purpose doesn't mean it wasn't wrong. Being ignorant doesn't excuse violence. The US can and should, and has, apologized and tried to make amends to those who were wronged.

On the other hand, nuking Japan was also a tragedy. It was also done for a purpose. But that doesn't mean it wasn't the best of bad options. Having no right choices doesn't excuse the wrong, but that doesn't mean we should apologize for taking the safest way out for our people.

What happened in Uvalde was a tragedy, and preventing lawful citizens from defending themselves and their homes will not bring the dead back, it will merely add more to the mass grave of violence and anger.

Of course American has done good things too

So yeah fuck the binary of man and woman They both get fucked!

Sure, but the same can be said for almost any nation, and certainly any people.

Also, therein lies the harsh truth of this world that we here in this pampered nation have forgotten; life is not fair, for neither man nor woman, and trying to imagine it so merely forces the inequalities upon others. One can't solve hate with control, and one can't face reality when you're living in a dream.
