You might still have found her obnoxious, but it would have removed a whole lot of inconsistencies and given them the freedom to tie up her storyline in whatever way they chose. In addition to giving them the actual Galadriel as another player to work with in Elven politics.

Heck, they even could've gone with Celebrian, if they were really too scared to create an entirely new character - there's not much in the little we know about her to suggest she was particularly hotheaded or martially inclined, but it still would've fit better and they could've put in a canonically accurate romance storyline with Elrond.

That's actually a very good idea. The knowledge that she's supposed to be obnoxious, or at least have some growing up to do would at least give the possibility of an arc and some hope for the show.

I definitely have the feeling they're playing the long game with Ar-Pharazon and do intend to have him in power by then. Which they're actually doing rather well, not being too obvious about it. But yeah, of course they want a larger role for Miriel in the process.

Which is fine, there is plenty of room within the lore to do that. She could even be the sort of bone of contention character between the Faithful and the King's Men, or Elendil and Pharazon if they decide to forego the factionalism and make it personal (mistake, IMO; the Doom of Numenor coming because of the equivalent of a bad election election result isn't exactly Biblical justice, whereas if there is an established division, then the relatively innocent who drown with the hardcore Kings Men are like the Germans who just wanted to be left in peace so they didn't say anything a la Neimoller). Anyway, back on target, she could be a really neat story of someone misled into doing what she thinks is best for the country even if wrong in a moral sense, and the whole thing where she is eventually married against her will to Pharazon adds a whole other twist. And, too, that could add something to the relationship between his son and Earien. Like, in that scenario, he'd probably be passed over as crown prince because a potential child of Miriel and Pharazon would have a better claim. So does he double down to prove himself to his father, or take a Fingolfin-like stand of taking proving his loyalty to a half-sibling to a destructive extreme, or does he turn to the Faithful out of resentment or perhaps a political ally because neither he nor they want the marriage with Miriel to happen. And we also see how Pharazon does not have the currently highest opinion of his leadership potential, so that could play into it.

Good question about the Dwarven storyline - setting up Durin's resentment towards his father might've been worth it, but then they immediately quashed that again, so, dunno. Regarding Bronwyn, her son and Mori, I think the storyline is important to have and I'd even call it a great idea, having these people living in the future Mordor and casually referring to Orodruin, but yeah, the details could've been better worked out...

Adar might potentially qualify as a great idea, as well - even if Tolkien's writings only really contain the one 'Dark Elf' Eol, I'd be totally fine with them taking dramatic licence to create another one, provided his storyline is interesting.

Same.

Was that 'star' stuff between Bronwyn's son and the creepy dude at the end intended to confirm once and for all that Nori's new big friend is, in fact, Sauron? If so, I still think it makes no sense.

Plus stars are generally good in Tolkien's books. I don't have the deep lore, not reading much beyond the Silmarillion, but I don't recall anything about evil stars. They're the creations of Varda (even what they refer to as the Evening Star in this episode, which is the Silmaril, that Varda hallowed back when they were made), who is the really good Vala, or at least doesn't have the occasional misjudgments or personnel issues that Manwe and Aule occasionally slip up on.

I think they'll still end up playing the Fall of Numenor straight with Pharazon in his canonical role - but they're setting it up across several seasons.

That would be good, but I don't see why they are mixing the timelines of Egregion and Numenor this way. Letting the conflict in Numenor play out from the beginning of their going astray, which IRRC, is linked to getting the imperialism bug after they sail to the aid of Gil-Galad against Sauron in the War that follows the creation of the Rings. Maybe they think it makes less sense to have Sauron on the shelf for 2000 years between that war and the war with Numenor under Ar-Pharazon.
I do hope Earien will have more to her story than the romance plot, but considering how she's been depicted interacting with her father and brother, it seems safe to assume she will.

Some of the Marvel Universe shows are good - and none of them are as bad as WoT, I'd say. Except maybe Moon Knight, wouldn't know as I couldn't finish it.

Wandavision went off the rails, Falcon & Winter Soldier was ridiculous, both assassinated movie Avengers, She-Hulk was so ridiculous, I quit after 1 episode, the Star Wars shows are at best, empty content like Mandalorian, or utter crap with one good moment in the whole season, like Obi-Wan Kenobi. Or just utter crap, like Book of Boba Fett. I have not been super inspired to watch the ones I have heard good things about like, Loki, Hawkeye or Moon Knight.
