From the article I read just now, I can't really see the big deal, even if the article writer clearly thinks otherwise. Seems he was smart enough to avoid saying anything homophobic even if he does think it. Honestly, I'd be inclined to say LGBT advocates should be happy that all other players on the team did agree to wear that gear - seems like solid progress compared to not that long ago, in a macho environment like the NHL.

who sometimes follows hockey too, it seems this is a choice given to players and not NHL policy requiring anything. Such a non-story.
