All my mind could focus on during the short time we were in the theater was the sum of the audience munching on popcorn, snacks, and sips of drinks. It sounded like some great beast, and I was on sensory overload.
Unrelated to my own mini-psychosis, my friend became quite ill, and we ended up leaving the theater and went home. From that point forward, I gained an increased sensitivity to the sound of chewing, though never to the level I had at that movie.
