Oh, this is easier to answer. Seems we have even less overlap, though. Legolas Send a noteboard - 11/01/2024 09:10:55 PM

View original postThese are my favorites, in no specific order. Feel free to disagree.

I've seen literally none of those, not even heard of the majority. Maybe once one episode of Cheers? I'm not sure. Presumably you haven't heard of several of mine either, seeing how the large majority is British...

Mine (English language) would include, in no particular order and also including comic sketch/game shows:

Blackadder
Fawlty Towers
Absolutely Fabulous
Monty Python's Flying Circus
Yes, Minister / Yes, Prime Minister
A Bit of Fry and Laurie
Coupling
Archer
8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown
Simpsons
Derry Girls
Brooklyn Nine Nine

I'm sure I'm forgetting some good ones still, perhaps seeing others' lists will remind me (edit: thank you Greg, can't believe I forgot DG!)

Second edit to add, I did watch and enjoy more recent American comedy shows like How I Met Your Mother, Modern Family, The Big Bang Theory - but for sheer hilarity they're just not in the same league as the British shows. Partly because they just have too many episodes, too much filler inbetween the good jokes. I'll make an exception for Brooklyn Nine Nine as it's better, or at least funnier, than the rest of them.

As for Friends, same thing except most of the characters are awful, it's more aggravating and less funny.
