Doesn't Taylor Swift need to chill out? - Edit 1

Can't say I could take this podcast seriously, considering their representation of the alt-right.

They call out Libs-of-Tiktok, who is literally just reposting deranged fringe lefty people. I mean, you can argue whether she has ill intentions, or she's distorting or cherrypicking, etc. I might even agree with you if you made those arguments, frankly. But her fuel comes from some creepy shit, and to use that as one of your examples is pretty fucking ironic.

They also call out Owen Benjamin, who is admittedly, very beyond-the-pail with what he tends to talk about. Of course, considering he has been summarily cancelled in pretty much every mainstream and alternative circle, it's hard to see how he is a great example of the alt-right.

What's not mentioned is that Owen pretty much makes fun of everybody. I guess he's just not as interesting to bring up when he's talking shit about Christians as, say Jews or gays or pop-culture icons.

The thing is, he is a comedian turned rancher/conspiracy theorist, and much of what he says are jokes, including what was brought up in the podcast. For those who do not care to listen to the show, he equates Travis Kelce's relationship with Taylor Swift to that of a gay man with his Beard. "Why would a successful man want a relationship with a middle-aged (read: nearing the end of her child-bearing age) woman who's always on tour, unless he's gay?" I mean, this is clearly a joke: situation + absurdism. Considering it is a lifestyle adopted by many of the homosexual persuasion (to the point that the term Beard was created to represent the girlfriend/spouse), I think it's a rather clever joke as well. Of course, the podcasters take the tweet as meant to be serious, which is gaslighting the right in the same way they claim the right is gaslighting the left

To the podcast's credit, I think they are right in that hating on Taylor Swift will likely create a backlash effect, burning bridges instead of building them. I'll even give them credit for pointing out Trump's neutral to positive response to Taylor is a smart tactic to keep him out of the way of the Swift train.

Much of the Swift hate stems from her vapid politics coupled with her vast popularity. It can be frustrating seeing bad ideas spread like wildfire. Especially after the clusterfuck of bad ideas we've followed the last few years (or decades, by my estimation ) Personally, I'm not a fan of her vapid music. But I will admit she makes catchy songs, and I'm still happy to sing them when I karaoke with my daughter.

If you had said this during Russiagate, I would be on board. If you had said this during the Summer of Love, when cities were being torn apart, I would be on board. If you had said this during Covid when the hate was spewed over the anti-lockdown/anti-forced-vax crowds, I would be on board. As it is, you only seem to be interested in chilling out in one direction.

Rock and Roll is dead anyway
