I agree that the "Stranger" storyline should have been cut in its entirety (I was hoping against hope that it was going to turn out to be Saruman, given his interest in control, but the "some who die deserve life" seems to have clinched it). And you aren't wrong that the show isn't paying attention to the SILMARILLION, but they can't pay attention to anything that isn't in the LOTR appendices. They don't have the rights to the SILMARILLION. That's one of the reasons this is such a mess of a show.

Agreed with you 100% about Disa. Incredible character. I only wish she had a fuller beard.
