Yes, those numbers are bad. But it is a reasonable position to be outraged that laws are being flaunted and federal employees sacked for attempting to follow the law, such as only allowing access to people cleared for it by someone with authority to do so, instead of the head of an advisory board.

I agree the level of access is problematic. But Congress granting this sort of audit power is realistically never going to happen. There are too many feeding off the government tit. As it has been, so it will always be.
