Yesterday's tragic killing of a woman protesting the presence of ICE in Minnesota is yet another example of everything wrong with current society. Depending on your point of view, this lady was either an innocent martyr wantonly executed for exercising her right to protest, or a domestic terrorist trying to use her SUV to kill Federal law enforcement agents. Calling this out makes me feel like Captain Renault. Big shock right? Because this is everything today.
The black bag job on Maduro was either a gross violation of another nation's sovereignty and the US Constitution, or a perfectly legitimate exercise in protecting American national security vis a vis this hemisphere.
Somalis in Minnesota are either all perpetrators of fraud for the benefit of their tribal alliances or the innocent victims of racism and xenophobia.
Islam is either the greatest danger to western values or the undeserving recipient of Islamophobic hysteria.
Blah, blah, blah. Ad infinitum.
TWO. THINGS. CAN. BE. TRUE.
But not in 2026. Everything is binary (other than gender, ironically enough). Nobody gives a shit about nuance in arguments nor about the circumstances that were the drivers for incidents that take place.
Yesterday's shooting, for example. Impeding a federal law enforcement agent is a crime and subjects one to arrest. So does refusing a lawful order, like shut off your car engine and exit the vehicle. Obviously, these are not capital crimes. The only justification for firing his weapon is if the officer in question believed his life was in danger. Whether his belief he was defending himself is legitimate or not will be the primary subject of the investigation. But with social media, everyone is now an expert. The self defense claim is either obviously true or clearly fabricated. Same videos, opposite interpretations. An interesting "nuance" to throw into the mix: the officer who fired was struck by a vehicle driven by a protester once before. And the Supreme Court has already ruled that attempting to strike a LEO with your car constitutes use of deadly force.
So I've already decided she deserved to die, right? If that's what you have taken from this, you're an idiot. Yes, I've only highlighted one side of the story because there are no details as to Ms.Good's thought process and we can't ask her. She's dead. Is it possible she panicked? Is it possible she inadvertently stepped on the gas? Or, was she trying to hit him? We don't know. Is it possible the ICE officer overreacted? Of course, and that's why they investigate.
However I do believe we can lay some blame on the state of Minnesota and city of Minneapolis, and their evident desire to become the virtue signalling capital of the US. How so? By ordering state and city police not to assist ICE operations. Like traffic control. Providing traffic control for an ongoing federal operation does not constitute supporting and abetting the objectives of that operation. It literally helps protect state and local citizens from breaking federal law. Whereas the absence of any Minnesota LEO presence can only serve to embolden protestors and exacerbate the confrontation. Doing their job could possibly have saved a life. But god forbid it might look like they are bending the knee to Trump.
Ah, stupid Mooky. That would require something other than an either/or oppressor/oppressed outlook. That would be unthinkable in our polarized world.
