On a side note, it certainly is interesting how in the US both sides' views about which authority is more important, local/state or federal, have a remarkable degree of flexibility depending on who happens to be in charge of said federal authority at that particular time...
Yeah, in 2010 the State of Arizona tried to enforce immigration law and the Obama administration took them to court. The Supreme Court decided the matter in Obama's favor: When it comes to immigration law, the feds are in charge.
When the Left was in charge, supremacy of the feds is what they wanted, and they got it. Now that they're not in charge, I guess they're going to need another Supreme Court win. Good luck with that. Their recalcitrance on illegal immigration enforcement got us two Trump Administrations and a rightwing majority in the Supreme Court.
