But lying will usually screw over the town more than just losing the Doc.

Besides, if the mafia realises that there is no claimed Doc, one of them might do it and gain practical unlynchability. What are you going to do then, admit that you lied and are really the doc? Who is the town going to trust? The claimed doc or the claimed liar?


Ehh that brings up a situation in which it would take a lot of guts to pull off a lie like that. I guess in that situation the true cop could claim, ask the town to lynch them to prove it or else hope the town believes them and then can prove it through the lynching of the DF claiming cop. Idk, it seems that there are multiple approaches to everything, lying isnt necessarily antitown as long as its cleared up
If the DFs claim that, then you can counterclaim, and it doesn't really matter who the town trusts more because you've found a DF between the two of you. I'd say that's worth it. Even if you lynch the wrong person, a vig can knock off the DF, and at worst the town will know whom to lynch the next day.
