We could look at who has given the least helpful information, combine that with the Attrition list and narrow down our suspects more. For instance, my question:
Gher 8 - Are you the author of any known works?
No
Really narrows me down to something like 90+% of the characters I could have been before answering. But other people's answers helped a lot more. Unfortunately for me, I should move higher on the Attrition list for this.
Not for that, you answered the question you were assigned and did so without evasion, and probably truthfully too, if you are a scumer and an author it would be a weird thing to lie about, Homer and the various Greek philosophers that wrote stuff (or had it written) aren't exactly known for their villainy. Regardless, the Attrition List concept is about safeguarding people who, if they are town, are likely to act beneficially for the town, and that's not really related to your randomly assigned question being pretty useless (or horribly revealing for the small handful of yes respondents). I suppose you could make the case the question's author wouldn't really deserve a spot on an Attrition safe-list that derives from 'asked useful questions' but the author of the author question was FT, who is not terribly likely to be on the Attrition List. As mentioned, its definitely not a red-shirt list since we don't really have any, but what ever it is, FT obviously isn't a prime candidate to be on it, particularly since even if 'asked a question' were our only criteria there are still plenty of players that didn't and 'maybe not a particularly great question' still beats out 'none'.
What I sort of figure we do, to make this list, is put down about 5-6 criteria, again the obvious ones being least posts, least non-NM posts, least questions asked, maybe longest non-RBIRL absence, most anti-town slips, etc. We find the bottom five, either excluding ties or including both for #5, for each category, then see if we have a few players who really stick out, give them and others a chance to do the whole "Well, he only posted X times but he was RBIRL for a week and let us know in advance" stuff, then grill those remaining 2-5 people (if we only have 1 we just lynch them) and I figure things will proceed under their own inertia at that point.
The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.
