But despite being very important in the books, they're not shown as much because only 1 protagonist can use feruchemy and hermalogy is "evil" so they don't really use it...except in brutes such as the koloss. ... Bottom line is, it's complex but the books are killer, so you should read em. Here's the wiki article to help you get a quick summary. It can explain Mistborn better than I can.
