He's the only one who's claimed as vanilla, which is extremely suspicious. Of course, it does fit with his claimed character, who is, quoting from <a href="http://buffy.wikia.com/wiki/Alexander_Harris">the wiki</a>, "the only one of his group of friends to not possess any supernatural abilities" but it still makes him my favoured suspect at this time. The claimed possibility of gaining powers at a future time sound like a pre-emptive defence against this accusation, too.
