Alessandro had to smile at the fierceness in Maite's voice. She was his elder by centuries, and he doubted he could match her on his ground, let alone here in her own home, but still, there was something about her that made him want to throw himself into a battle of wills with her.

Mastering himself, he spoke, "Maite, while you do currently only have the wounded pheasants, I could offer you a lion on the prowl to hunt."
