I read Dune years ago, but I didn't like them. Responsibility for this may lie with the fact that I read them in French though, after all, I was mostly unimpressed with The Lord of the Rings until by a happy string of coincidence the movies came out, prompting me to reread the books, and my copy of La Communeauté de l'anneau was stolen by some guy, forcing me to purchase a new volume - in English.

People who say that Tolkien was a great world-builder but a poor writer are idiots, incidentally.

Anyway, rambling aside, I just meant that I have no fear of spoilers for Dune, but I'll probably be pretty useless for determining context since the memories are dim.
