Each episode is not as stand alone "exciting" as say Fringe. It really is a matter of taste. I love multiple story lines built up over several weeks of in depth characters that make say a suicide by jumping off a building so much more than just a rooftop scene because of the implications to everyone's motives and make you rethink everything going forward. (seriously awesome scene, but the full effect completely lost if you saw that episode first or after a long break). I do think that success for shows like this should not be measured in the number of seasons it airs. Much like in the UK, we should take a great concept like this and play it out over 15-20 episodes, and then move on. We would see much better concepts for shows like this, and less soap opera like marketing machines that dominate much of TV today.
