It's not like it was back in, say, 1965, when Doctor Zhivago was released. Then, most of the people who watched the movie had never been to Russia, many of them had never even met Russians and the world was divided along political lines. Now these movies broadcast worldwide, simultaneously. Regardless of what culture is being stereotyped, it's safe to say people in the country are watching the movie and shaking their heads, saying, "damn they're stupid" or something like that (possible exception: North Korea if you're not in the Kim family).
