Actually Jack only estimates that the clothes are a certain age (40-50 years I believe) rather than the bodies themselves.

In an interview with Cuse and Lindorf this is mentioned to them, and they reply that Jack may be a good doctor, but he's no good at estimating the rate of decay of clothes/bodies, etc (I think they joked that they needed Bones on the site).

One wonders if this is just a flimsy excuse for a loose end being incorrectly tied up or if they knew it all along and just didn't put as much stock into it as the casual fan.
