It was very meh. Crowe was about as interesting as a sack of oatmeal. Blanchett and the old guy were the only really interesting characters in my opinion, and the movie was way way WAY too long. Two and a half hours is too long ... tons of things could have been cut to make it more streamlined. Did we really need to know that Robin Hood's father wrote the Magna Carta? I don't think so. That was done very poorly I thought - the movie kind of jumped off the deep end into maudlin territory with that, and also with Marion rushing into battle with a bunch of forest kids. What the heck was that about? Weird.

It would have been better if it had been more streamlined and had a better focus. And also better villains. Strong was menacing, but that's about it. Joaquin Pheonix made a much better villain ala young and shallow tyrant as Commodus in Gladiator than the dude who played Prince John in this movie. I was kind of scared of Commodus ... this guy I just wanted to see Eleanor of Aquitaine bitchslap a couple more times.
