It's less a stutter and more an intentional short loop of that part of the theme song. They don't elongate the d, rather, there really are a bunch of discrete consonants. 
I've only seen pieces of a couple of episodes. I was always more into Pokemon, until they started doing the movies. Kinda lost interest, then.
