Not that it really matters now, but it's nice to have that one finally answered.

And Jack showing compassion and telling Sawyer that it wasn't his fault when he definitely shares some of the blame just emphasizes the differences between the two men. Sawyer never forgave Jack for Juliet's death. That being said, Sawyer had the most guilt-ridden look on his face that I have ever seen. Prepare for a Sawyer sacrifice to save the day in the finale.
