That whole scene being bad and misplaced aside, the whole series is failing rapidly for me. I think it's a simple case of too much success too soon, and the commercial imperative that has followed that is stifling the creativity, innocence and simple joy of the series when it started.

Both the Madonna and Gaga episodes sucked ass, but were clearly needed to squeeze out a few more record sales and pad out the stage tour. The overlydramatic soap-operaesque storyline that drove the 1st half os the series meanwhile has turned into a damp squib 2nd half, 2 episodes from the end of the season and other than the wank Rachel and her mother storyline has anything else happened? And does anyone care about the regionals? Really?

I loved Glee when it started, but quality wise it's heading the way of FlashForward. The sole light in the dark just now is Kurts dad, who despite some terrible scripts since his wonderful Finn kitchen speech, continues to deliver whatever he's given with a gravitas missing elsewhere.
