They finally showed Asuma's relationship with Kurenai and Shikamaru and he fights a pretty intense battle. It was the most emotional part of the story so far even though I knew it was coming since I also read the manga.

Jiraiya's fight with Pain was also emotional but did not hit me as hard as Asuma's fight with Hidan.
