It's definitely worth the price of admission and is a worthy addition to the franchise.
You are thrust immediately into the action and there are few relatively quiet moments, the longest probably being the group's brief stay in the hideout of the Laurence Fishburne character. You quickly learn that Fishburne's character is more than a "little" stircrazy after 10 years on the planet. There are several moments and characters' actions that you look at and know precisely where they were taken from in the original "Predator" but it's not a copycat movie by any means. In fact, the end battle sequence has the hero using a clever method to frustrate the Predator's heat vision.
I thought there were two excellent visual moments: one where our band of soldiers, mercenaries, murderers, etc. reach a cliff overlooking a wide valley and realize they are definitely NOT in Kansas anymore. The other is when the group finds an empty cage. The convict who was due to be executed in two days' time looks up and says, "Oh f***!"; the camera then pulls back to reveal many more empty cages dotting the landscape.
As far as the actions of the doctor character in the group go, no one should be the least surprised by his final actions.
Finally, as the screen goes black, I think it was a nice touch to have the "Long Tall Sally loves Uncle John" song playing over the end credits. (I'm not sure of the title, but anyone who's seen the original Predator movie knows the song I'm talking about.)
